Our story
We believe the performing arts have the power to build confidence, foster creativity and bring communities together, creating opportunities for people to learn, perform and grow.
Founded in 2011, The Amici Trust is a not-for-profit organisation dedicated to making the performing arts accessible, inspiring and inclusive for people of all ages and experience levels. Through major productions, workshops, education and community partnerships, the Trust creates opportunities for people to develop their skills and build confidence.
The Amici Trust first came to prominence with its acclaimed 2016 production of The Phantom of the Opera, which attracted audiences of more than 31,000 people. Since then, the Trust has produced nine large-scale musical theatre productions, bringing together talented performers, musicians, technicians and creative teams to deliver outstanding theatrical experiences for Auckland audiences.
At the heart of the Trust's work is a commitment to developing theatre skills across every aspect of production. Whether someone is performing on stage, playing in the orchestra, working backstage, managing a production or exploring technical and creative roles, The Amici Trust provides opportunities to learn, practise and grow. Through workshops, productions and partnerships with schools and community organisations, participants build practical skills, gain confidence and work alongside experienced theatre practitioners in a supportive environment.
The Amici Trust believes that theatre is built through shared knowledge, collaboration and continual learning. By creating opportunities for people to develop their skills through both education and practical production experience, the Trust is helping to strengthen Auckland's performing arts community and inspire the next generation of theatre makers.
We believe the performing arts have the power to build confidence, foster creativity and bring communities together, creating opportunities for people to learn, perform and grow.
